Postgraduate Years (PGY) 4-5

During the senior years of residency, residents assume increasing leadership and supervisory roles while refining their clinical expertise and pursuing areas of special interest.

The PGY4 year includes:

  • 3 months of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
  • 6 weeks of Addictions Psychiatry
  • 6 weeks of Emergency Psychiatry
  • 6 months of Chronic Care and electives

The PGY5 year consists of:

  • 6 months of selectives in areas such as consultation-liaison psychiatry, addictions, rural and outreach psychiatry, psychotherapy, and research
  • 6 months of electives, which may be completed within or outside of psychiatry

Up to six months of selective and elective training may be undertaken at another university.
