Postgraduate Years (PGY) 4-5

In the senior years, residents provide increased leadership in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, and consolidate and further develop career track interests.

In the PGY4 Year, three to six months are in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, one month (or equivalent longitudinal experience) are in Collaborative/Shared Care, one month in Addictions Psychiatry and three to six months are in the care and rehabilitation of those with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), formerly known as Chronic Care.

Six months of selectives may include any of the above areas, plus addictions psychiatry, rural or outreach psychiatry, the psychotherapies, and research. Six months of electives may be spent outside of psychiatry. Of the selectives and electives periods, up to six months may be spent at another university.
