Postgraduate Year (PGY) 1

The PGY1 year will be based at the Royal Columbian Hospital.  The PGY1 year is divided into 13 blocks of four weeks each. Typically, three blocks are in psychiatry, including exposure to emergency psychiatry. Two blocks are in neurology with the option of a neuroimaging rotation. One block is in emergency medicine. Three blocks are in internal medicine which can also include family medicine, and/or (one block of) pediatrics. Two blocks of selectives can be in any of the above areas plus surgery, obstetrics-gynecology, palliative care, and research. There are two elective blocks. Call requirements are determined within each rotation.

There are 4 weeks of vacation available each academic year along with 5 days of paid conference leave.
