PGY-2
The PGY2 year consists of 12 months of General Adult Psychiatry, divided equally between inpatient and outpatient settings at Royal Columbian Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital. Integrated psychotherapy training begins during this year, with a particular emphasis on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and group psychotherapy.
Call requirements are standardized across all UBC Psychiatry residency tracks.
Residents are provided with four weeks of vacation annually, as well as five days of paid conference leave each academic year.

PGY-3
The PGY3 year is divided into two core rotations of six months each: Child and Adolescent psychiatry and Geriatric psychiatry.
Child and Adolescent Psychiatry core rotation is offered at Surrey Memorial Hospital. It comprises of outpatient (variety of teaching and specialty clinics), and inpatient experience (mainly in the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit). Longitudinal family and individual therapy is also part of the rotation.
Geriatric Psychiatry core rotations will be offered at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital, and Burnaby Hospital.
