Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy training and supervision is provided by experienced and specialized physician and PhD psychologist staff at both Royal Columbian Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital. The focus of PGY2 will the formation of a foundation of skills and knowledge in CBT and DBT/Group Therapy. In other years, psychotherapy training will largely be determined by resident interest.
Royal Columbian Hospital — CBT (Individual and Group), Group Therapy (Anxiety, OCD, Panic, Depression Groups), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Surrey Memorial Hospital — CBT, Group Therapy (Anxiety, OCD, Panic, Depression Groups), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Addictions Psychiatry and Chronic Mental Illness
These rotations must be separately evaluated and documented. Care of patients with severe and persistent psychotic and/or bipolar illness is to be for no less than two hours per month of supervised direct patient care for at least one year. For addictions psychiatry, a one month rotation or equivalent longitudinal experience, with supervised experience in a variety of settings, is required.
